The Music Affiliate of the Cuban Union for Writers and Artists in Matanzas announced the nominated creators to its highest award, the White Prize, now in his 14th edition.
They presented those who reached the final. Among them were the bassist Raúl Gómez Benavides, current leader of the “Sonora del Caribe” band and director for many years of the “Provincial Concerts Band”; Carmelo Marrero Alpízar, trumpet player and director of the “Sonora Lira Matancera ” and Vicente Hernández, guitarist, arranger, and composer.
José de las Nieves González, cornet player and music professor; Luis Llaguno, vocalist and director of the grouping ¨Nuestra America¨ along with Alfonsito Lloréns, singing and composer were as well among those who reach the final.
The nominees, originally from Matanzas long for a unique prize honoring the lifetime work, artistic education and creative labor.
The commission in charge of organizing the White event, points out that in the next days the jury, integrated by prestigious personalities of the musical scope and specialized press of the province, will get together to decide among the nominees, who will be the 2013´s winner.
