Humor is an inseparable part of the character of the Cubans, as it is manifested in almost all circumstances of our life either from the irony or mockery of everyday problems.
Since 2011 and with the aim of developing gender manners , provincial Council of Fine Arts and the Visual Arts Center of Matanzas devote space to reward works that best reflect the different manifestations of humor .
As part of the third edition of Hall Double Nine were selected 40 works by 17 artists from around the country, which address topics representative of contemporary Cuba .
The jury, chaired by renowned cartoonist Manuel Hernández from Matanzas , awarded first place to Autofocal photography, artist Sergio habanero Morlan , who led an educational action from a jocular sense and at the same time, profound.
Aristides Hernandez (Ares ) was second with one of his works , while the third place deserved Marcial Flores with a caricature of Tony Avila.
The Cuban Association of Craft Artists (ACAA ) of the territory recognized by collateral laurels to family portrait , Carmenate Jorge Fernandez for his courage in tackling such a contemporary issue of social impact , and gave a mention to the series for a craftsman, Emilio Ofarril .
Manuel Hernandez said the Hall of Double Caricature Nine has grown by the need for a room for humor in the province and in the country, and highlighted its rating on the winning works.
«It was the best of all because it has gained in participation and quality of works . I think it’s the rebirth of humor, something that has been lost in recent decades to narrowly Product Release available publications .
«We found new firms and artists who adopt humor as a healthy choice to convey educational messages and reviews . «
Matanzas also referred to their expectations regarding the event, for future editions .
«I think you can achieve greater participation and renewed in terms of the concepts it advocates, because as it happens will be more diverse. My impression is the smart move and rescue and double entenders that identifies Cuban humor. «
The exhibition will remain until the 9th of February, in the main hall of the headquarters of the ACAA in Matanzas.
