The charm of the Playoffs

Gloria Machado León 28 marzo, 2014

The playoff system or final games , highly controversial at the outset by the amount of applied variants , began in 1986 in the Cuban Baseball National Series .

I remember many fans did not agree with this method of extra games , but certainly the “play off” have a magic charm that makes the stadiums are filled resulting in a true sporting event .

Reviewing the history of these encounters we see that from the first to the fourth powers in 1989 were all against all with the presence of the qualifying teams .

The fifth suffered a variant to face the first sets of each zone for the title and the occupants of the second places for third place .

The sixth playoffs in 1991 and the following year applied cross system. It is from 1993 that the stop between leaders of different groups looking holders area they faced in seven games for the national championship was held .

Another way to end series ran from 1998 that introduced the classification system of the first places in each group and the two best win-loss averages areas .

The currently applied has a qualifying stage of all against all , in which eight teams emerge for the second phase , reinforced with five players out and it sets out to play off the top four playing by the system crossed and are discussing the championship.

Different ways to find the best  of the competition , that so far have reached the mission to provide a great show to fans .
