Building bridges of friendship with Cuba

Joy, curiosity and affection are common expressions on the face and dialogue with members of the 45 Contingent of Venceremos Solidarity Brigade, from U.S. to satisfy a broad program of activities in Matanzas.

The encounter becomes an opportunity for exchange with the people, their authorities and visit different sites of historical and cultural interest in the province to enrich knowledge and build bridges of friendship and solidarity between nations.

Those friends of Cuba came to the Zapata Swamp where they met the treasured heritage by Playa Giron museum  linked to the mercenary invasion on April 1961, which led to the first major defeat of imperialism in America.

As part of the meeting with people from the Zapata Swamp, members of the Venceremos Brigade spoke with the youth of the Korimakao Artistic Community and confirm the work they make to help rural communities of the municipality.

In the La Ruta del Esclavo Museum in the Castle of San Severino of Matanzas city, visitors know first hand the influence of the African diaspora in the formation of the Cuban nationality and enjoyed the performance of the Afrocuba group , genuine representative of the rumba.

The program expect the placing of a wreath at the monument of the terrorism victims and the sharing with workers of the Rosa Luxemburg Restoration Clinic of Neurodevelopment and the Museum of the Battle of Ideas in Cardenas.

Jazelyn Montañez, a  Puerto Rican teacher said he was impressed with this opportunity to meet Cubans, their common history linked to Puerto Rico and that their example inspires, while condemning the U.S. blockade.

Knowing the reality of the island is the greatest stimulus to members of the quota up mostly youth of various nationalities, including the Dominican Mileydis Ana Rosario, who believes that learning from our country allows him to defend the arguments are.
