The tenth edition of Palabras de Invierno Oral Storytelling Festival is taking place until Sunday November the 2nd in Matanzas with the participation of about fifty storytellers from eleven provinces of the island and in honor of the centenary of Samuel Feijoo and Onelio Jorge Cardoso.
Dedicated to the popular culture, it is organized by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba’s territory and Puentepalabra Group, the Athens of Cuba. The meeting agenda includes galas and performances of storytelling in cultural institutions, schools and workplaces in the City of Bridges.
During this X Storytelling Festival Winter Words Three prizes will be awarded for the work of life and the rewards of Popularity, Imprinting and the Magisterium in orality, the latter given by the Provincial Council of Cultural Centers in Matanzas .
Matanzas musical and theater groups also participate in this celebration of the word, including group of Alfonso Llorens and his Dinámica, the Fantasía quartet , Mirón Cubano Theatre, the Youth Orchestra Jazz Band Swing Cubano and the dance company Alma Flamenca.
Since yesterday morning the narrators take schools, parks, streets, shopping centers and cultural institutions of the city to give us fables, tales and stories, this time from the countryside.
