Low rainfall affecting the country exerts its negative influence in the Matanzas province, where the reservoirs levels come down and water is distributed to the population through pipes in some places.

Although these days it rains frequently, Water Resources specialists call to step up measures to recover savings and windmills for irrigation and supply to livestock.

The territory is also working on sealing the leaks in the conducting, where a considerable amount of water is lost, which calls for consumer savings extreme measures.

In Matanzas extent of the drought it can be seen, although it has the largest and best preserved natural reservoir of the Caribbean, in the Zapata Swamp, and a privileged reserve of groundwater.
