More than fifteen papers were discussed in Matanzas in the Second Provincial Workshop on the History of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), which paid tribute to Fidel Castro for his 90 years of life, a celebration of the Cubans will take place on August 13th.
The founder of the CDR, Ligio Barrera, led the event to be held annually. Two working committees speakers discussed topics: Youth in the different stages of the life of the CDR; Role and contribution of the committees in defense of the Revolution and the contribution of this organization to the Cuban democratic system.
Among the presentations he was dedicated to the first martyr of the largest mass organization of the island, the yumurino municipality of Jagüey Grande: Lazaro Gonzalez Fagundo, murdered by counterrevolutionary bands when projected on a mobile cinema films in rural intricate. The jury found that among the proposals to participate in the national event must be this work, representing the young in pushing the tasks of the CDR.
Jorge Lezcano Perez, who was national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, in one of his speeches said that today more than ever the organization has to strengthen equality, solidarity, social justice, unity in the community and family integration.
He said that these are strengths that are consolidated by the thought of the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz and the National Hero José Martí and is a must transmit to new generations for study, reflection and dissemination meet the challenges of today and future.
