And the appointed date arrived !, today most of the world’s population -passionate or not for the sport event- , is anxiously waiting for the official opening of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Although this is the thirty-first edition of the Olympic Games of the modern era, it is only the second Latin American city that is host these events.

First, Mexico City in 1968, entered one of the darkest chapters in Mexican history, for ten days before the opening of the Games was a student massacre in Tlatelolco Square perpetrated by the army.

1968 Olympics is also remembered for the time when athletes Thommie Smith and John Carlos raised their wrapped in a black glove while the American anthem sounded at the awards ceremony of the 200 meter fists.

The gesture was a salute to Black Power, the rights movement of African Americans that took place in their country.

With these Latin American history we arrived at Rio 2016, a site marked by controversies such as political instability in the South American country and the doping scandal that prevented the participation of Russian athletes.

Added to this it is that because of the immigration crisis in Europe, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will allow ten athletes compete as independent and the Olympic flag.

Despite these and other situations in Rio 2016 medals will be played in 42 Olympic sports will be 306 tests: 136 female, 161 male mixed nine.

That will be the final men’s basketball in the United States is still the favorite; the beautiful game and test its star: the 100 meters, with the performance of Jamaican Usain Bolt and within swimming, Michael Phelps, «the shark of Baltimore», the athlete with the most medals in the history of the Olympic Games.

Performances not to miss this summer event.

And Cuba, participation wrestling Olympic champion, Mijail López, looking for another title; the power of the pole vaulter Yarisley Silva; Gymnast revelation Manrique Larduet and Antillean ship bow sport: boxing.

Stories still to be enjoyed and written in these Olympics, which will have the flavor of the samba and the colors of America.
