Gloria Machado León 30 agosto, 2016

Arsenio Rodriguez, The wonderful blind man, was born on August 30th, 1911. His artistic immensity not only his prolific work was due as a composer, but also make significant contributions to the development of genres such as salsa and Cuban son. His inability to see not meant barrier to the development of his career; Arsenio had the ability to see beyond the eyes of many, to move, even after the passage of the years, his way of interpreting and love life through his songs. Perhaps many tilden me crazy if I say that the inability to see endowed a man of exquisite sensibility, that every interaction with another person, all I heard, touched or smelled, made his tactile sensations emit signals to your mind and he transformed them into images he became reality, forming their own world. An individual universe also fed by the amalgamation of ancient traditions of the Congolese: their language, their religion, their customs, a culture that throbbed in his blood since childhood, much as the love of music. He could not see his eyes because an accident at twelve deprived him of that sense and, therefore, looked, felt and loved with his heart. This man dedicated his life to create, renew and disseminate the most autochthonous national staff and even at the time of final farewell, he devoted his last thoughts to musical jewels bequeathed to posterity. Sobran reason to elevate his name, to perpetuate the memory of Arsenio Rodriguez, The wonderful cieguito. THE MAN LOOKING WITH HIS HEART The more than 200 musical compositions of Arsenio Rodriguez are a mixture of double meaning and fine humor, but also in his songs heartbreaking moments when life seemed to turn his back reflected. So much so that the pieces could be considered an autobiography of his repertoire. Moments like the imprisonment of his brother Quique, who from the time of loss of sight became the eyes of Arsenio, the fateful diagnosis where damage was irreversible, and other passages in their daily lives they were perpetuated in his music. His work as a composer beyond the borders of the country, reflecting the playfulness in his compositions and the rich cultural heritage contained in the popular imagination that characterizes Cubans. CREATIVITY IN DARKNESS: LIFE IS A DREAM As the leader of his own group are in the 1940s, Arsenio gave more African to son montuno Cuban approach, increasing the percussion to include congas and extending the interpretation section of call and response to emphasize the polyrhythm and improvisation . His contributions to the melodies of the songs composed or he played, his mastery of three and their outstanding work as a conductor marked a hallmark that make it unique and indispensable in Cuban and international music. With the instrumental format set a new stage in the sonority and interpretation of Cuban, more sonorous and harmonic richness, possibility that gave the inclusion of more trumpets, piano and conga drums, as well as the highlight of the singer began as a soloist in of the group. But it was not only the expansion of the instrumental format which contributed Arsenio, but also a new repertoire, a greater variety of rhythms and harmonic concepts that enriched the son, bolero, guaracha and combinations as the bolero-mambo and bolero-cha . Till the time of his death, The Wonderful composed about 200 songs. The precious heritage of his grandfather from the congo was an important step towards creating a music that is now enjoyed by the world step. Arsenio sagacious lyrics and beautiful melodies were their perception of human existence. Paradoxical life, they tell me, and it may seem, but no. The man who was deprived of admiring the beauties of life from child feeding knew in his mind the flashes of love, colors of music, knew internalize and give us reason to understand that life is a dream. LIFE IS A DREAM, one of the most important and well-known compositions by the tres player and bandleader who was born in Guira de Macurijes, Matanzas . This piece was made after a study which was submitted, which determined that suffered damage was irreversible. The vision for him was no longer a possibility. After one lives twenty heartbreak What’s one more After you know the action of life You should not mourn We must realize that everything is a lie That nothing is true You have to live a happy moment You have to enjoy what you can enjoy Because taking account total Life is a Dream And it all goes The reality is born and die Why so tense fill Everything is nothing but eternal suffering The world is made of unhappiness.   Original text by on Aug 30th, 2016
