The International Festival of Cuban Rumba Timbalaye concluded Tuesday in the city of Matanzas after intense days of sharing in defense of Afro-Cuban roots and momentum for the preservation of the musical rhythm, intangible heritage of the nation.
Inaugurated on 26 last August in Havana, where three years ago the festival began its program of activities then moved to Matanzas city. A return to those matanceros neighborhoods where the first touches of drum leather gave life to a genre, today serving as musical and dance legacy.
This eighth edition matancero floor between his dedications kept a space to remind Francisco Zamora Chirino (Minini) and Peter Abayi (Regalado), recently deceased. In addition, the 180th anniversary of the rise was recalled in Cuba Abakuá secret society.

With representations of Italy and Mexico featured several musical guests, including: the troupe of Youth, and the Matanceros and the Antorcha Mexican company. The latter with a sample of rituals and a colorful singular referring to the Aztec culture.
As a postscript to presentations coordinators booked a show with the presence of the Kings of Drum and Orchestra Miguel Failde to connect the danzón and the rumba in the Alley of Traditions of Matanzas.
From there, where generations come together and prevails singing to Afro-Cuban deities, as a deserved closure of the eighth edition of the Timbalaye Cuban Rumba International Festival.
