“Meeting the plan of the 2016-2017 sugar cane harvest in Matanzas is a task of political significance,” said Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, in a meeting with the main authorities of the territory.
The member of the Political Bureau also evaluated the functioning of the province based on economic, social and political indicators such as the implementation of the annual plan and budget, work and social security, food industry and the process of accountability of the delegate to his constituents .
As part of the visit, the Cuban leader toured the Comandante Faustino Pérez Surgical Clinical Teaching Hospital, in the process of rehabilitation, and the recently inaugurated Entre Puentes cyber café, which gave it an important role for the recreation of young people.
The occasion also served to recognize the work of Lazo as founder of the organs of People’s Power, 40 years after its creation, and to warn about the need for the unity of the people before a complex international scenario.
The meeting also had the presence of Teresa Rojas Monzón, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas; Tania León Silveira, member of the Council of State and president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power; And members of the Cuban Parliament, among other officials.
