The producers of the Máximo Gómez Agricultural Company continue the work of planting potatoes in Perico. This year they grow 64 hectares more than last year, said Osvaldo Rodríguez, director of the entity.
“More than 60 percent of the total number of areas dedicated to the tuber has been planted,” said the manager, “but we have the fertilization and irrigation equipment to complete this stage on December 28th.”
In the present campaign the reincorporation of the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production La Angelina, historical potato producing area, with new irrigation machines stands out.
The technicians and specialists predict a yield between 17 and 22 tons per hectare for the harvest, which is why they prioritize the planting of the tuber in this territory of Matanzas.
