The year 2016 represented a difficult period for the Basic Business Unit (UEB) dedicated to the preservation and conservation of flora and fauna in Matanzas.
Belkys Medina Urra, director of the company, said that the country’s main source of foreign exchange earnings, exporting charcoal, did not achieve the predicted indicators, so that by 2017 they will focus all their efforts on the field.
During the annual balance of the organization the workers stressed the importance of the technical implements to make charcoal such as chainsaws and protective glasses that humanize the task.
Also, the prices of the sack of the ulla and the conditions of work in which the charcoal workers of the entity work were highlighted.
Cuban charcoal is well quoted in the international market due to its quality and is produced from invasive plants such as marabou.
By 2017, control and efficiency will be decisive for UEB Flora and Fauna Matanzas, which is a reference in the agricultural sector.
