With great rivalry in the parties the sub 23 intends to improve Cuban baseball.
The Matanzas baseball team will continue its walk in the National Championship sub category 23 on Monday.
The students of Professor Arlet Vázquez, who march in the first place of group b, with seven successes and five failures will visit the best of the West: Artemisa (8-4). The match will mark the beginning, for both sets, of the stops between selections of the same region, novelty for this version of the national sport for children under 23 years.
The date of Monday is completed: Isla de la Juventud (4-8) -Cienfuegos (5-7); Habana (5-7) -Villa Clara (6-6) and Mayabeque (6-6) -Pinar del Rio (7-5), always in the home of the first. In the other zone, Santiago de Cuba, leader of the tournament with 11-1 will visit Las Tunas, while the Camagüeyanos (10-2) will move to Guaso lands for the series of four games.
They will also compete with Granma (7-5) -Sancti Spíritus (5-7) and Holguin (5-7) -Ciego de Ávila (5-7), with the latter as visitors.
The championship, which has reached twelve of the 40 matches expected, will give the semifinals the two teams that head their keys, which will be three games to win two with a 5-3 final. The event seeks to develop local talents for the upcoming National Series, while being part of the National Baseball Commission’s strategy for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, where the main Cuban pastime will return to these events under the five hoops .
