The goat cheese production project will benefit workers in the municipality of Martí, according to Ismael Berrio Fleitas, National President of the Society of Small Ruminants.
Goat cheese is an excellent food and can be a nutritional alternative for people intolerant to milk, said the manager.
This project includes a minindustria in finishing phase, mechanical milking, irrigation and grain grinding machines.
Currently, only three producers of the Cooperativa de Creditos y Servicios Camilo Cienfuegos benefit directly from the project, said Raúl Hernández, president of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in the territory.
However, when the minindustria begins to process the raw material, all the peasants of the zone can tax, emphasized the official.
The capacity of this small factory is 800 liters per day and the productions will have an impact on the northern municipality.
Various institutions such as the Indio Hatuey Pasture and Forage Experiment Station and the Cuban Animal Production Association contribute to the development of the goat cheese production project in Martí.
