Encourage CDRs to volunteer blood donors

Volunteer donors of blood receive from the past June 6th and until the 14th the homage of the Committees of Defense of the Revolution (CDR), in the province of Matanzas, for their noble and solidary commitment.

During the National Day dedicated to the men and women who participate in this human campaign, whose only objective is to save lives, the CDR also stimulates the areas that obtain the status of centenarians and fifty in voluntary donations of blood and the detachments of students of the Matanzas University, Medical Sciences and Pedagogy.

The CDR provincial coordinator, Orlando Rodríguez Montoya, who shared an exchange with the donors, congratulated them and expressed the importance of their altruistic gesture, since blood is used in hospitals, for therapeutic use or in surgical interventions, in the industry. Rodríguez Montoya highlighted the case of the Hemoderivatives Plant, in the country’s capital, which produces drugs such as interferon, transfer factor and gamma globulin.

The director said that the annual plan for donations of blood, at the end of May was 102 percent, with 9,395 extractions, standing out as the forefront on this front the municipality of Los Arabos, followed by Martí and the  Zapata Swamp.

He also reaffirmed the joint work with Public Health staff and, in particular, the Blood Bank. The leader of the CDR said: “How much dedication, love, dedication without limits, effort and worth admire today in you. That is why we pay tribute to them and ask them to continue to lead this task of the first order. “
