Seminar for Educational Improvement concluded in Matanzas

The Provincial Seminar on Preparation for Educational Improvement concluded at Carlos Marx, Vocational Pre-university Institute of Exact Sciences, in the city of Matanzas.

Methodologists and specialists from the Ministry of Education, in three days of debates, workshops and conferences, trained the teaching staff of the territory that the next school year will assume the task of applying changes to the Cuban educational system.

Odalys García Figueroa, National Director of Primary Education, commented:

“Our objective is the training of teachers for the experimental implementation of curricula. Here are the researchers who compose the groups of authors of textbooks and other documents.

“In the case of our level was conceived a better articulation with the Early Childhood. Also in the Special Education will be made adjustments aimed at achieving a greater participation of the family and instruct the parents in the care they should give their children as special people, in no way diminished.

“It is important to recognize the preparation of the province and to emphasize the need to complete the teaching staff, their stability and improvement. I think the most valuable thing about this third refinement is the possibility of experimentation. “

The Francisco Vega Alemán elementary school of the Playa Popular Council of the city of Yumurina was the center of this educational level selected for the implementation of the transformations, a challenge that the cloister will assume, said Eledis Abreu Domeche, director of the institution:

“When our center was selected as an experimental one we set ourselves the task of preparing teachers with the new support materials, methodological guidelines, programs, workbooks and textbooks. The teachers are committed and happy about the election, because it shows that our work is recognized. “

The Estrellitas Rojas children’s circle, the Cándido González high school, the Enrique Hart pre-university, the polytechnic Álvaro Reynoso, the Calixto García worker-peasant faculty and the Franklin Gómez special school were the chosen centers for experimentation.

In general, transformations include the updating of content through the renewal of textbooks and the application of new forms of the teaching process such as conferences, seminars, practical classes and field trips.

The next school year will begin the application of improvement in the first, second and fourth years of life in the case of Early Childhood; First and fourth grades of Primary Education; Seventh of the Secondary Education and tenth of the Pre-university.
