In Matanzas city they are building a new Viaducto-Cuní vehicular intersection, an investment that exceeds one million pesos and is part of the actions by the Matanzas 325 Plan.

According to Reynaldo Hernández Rodríguez, director of the Provincial Center for Road Matanzas, the project is due to the reorganization of the city.

“It closed the Middle Street, it is also intended to become a pedestrian promenade Plaza de la Vigía and as a consequence must link Pueblo Nuevo (Calzada Tirry and San Luis) with the Viaduct to lighten the vehicle loads of this area,” added the official .

The main investors of the Viaducto-Cuní vehicular intersection are the Provincial Railway and Communal Companies, as well as the Matanzas Provincial Road Center.

Today preliminary work is carried out in the area (demolition, breakdown, debarking, stockpiling and stone material) by the BECOIG 38 brigade.

“We have to remodel everything, the intention is to open the central separator with the rails of acceleration and deceleration at the height of the TRANSCUPET Company. Cuní Street will move south, about 20 meters, so that the intersection has the angle of rotation described by the Cuban standard, ie circulate all types of transport both light and heavy. In addition, the General Betancourt Roadway will have a direct link to the Viaduct through this street, “said Reynaldo Hernández Rodríguez.

The work, which should not exceed 5 months from the start, also includes the demolition and construction of Cuní and Recurso streets.

Although the planned investment exceeds one million pesos National Currency, this figure will increase because the land where the work will be carried out is soft and must be stabilized with rajón.

“Equally the state entities Railways and TRANSCUPET, who reside in the area, must abandon in a period of 2 years these areas, because they are next to a tourist corridor and are projected other constructions with great attractions for tourism,” argued the manager .
