A brigade composed of 51 workers from the Territorial Division of ETECSA of Pinar del Río arrived in Matanzas yesterday to support the restoration of communication services in the areas affected by the passage of Hurricane Irma.
The team is integrated with specialized personnel in exterior plant, repairers of public telephones and basic, and fiber optic splicers and cables.
Manuel Milián Villar, territorial director of ETECSA in Pinar del Rio explained that “as long as we identify each of the breakdowns and follow the guidelines of the maximum direction of the province we will begin to work. We must start with fiber optic splices, higher priority cables and reintegrate the subscriber network. “
The main damages are concentrated today in the northern area of Matanzas where they will begin to restore local networks. This is the first brigade of the Telecommunications Company ETECSA that up to the territory. Next Friday will arrive 20 men more coming from the province of Cienfuegos.
They welcomed the Raul Almeida Carrera, a member of the provincial bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba; Maydeline Monet, general secretary of the Communications Union and Guelsys González Peña, director of the Territorial Division of ETECSA in Matanzas.
