With the commitment to defend the achievements of the Cuban Revolution and advocate for world peace, the delegation of Matanzas to the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students was summoned in the Russian city of Sochi.

Ronal Hidalgo Rivera, second secretary of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), stressed that the message of Cuban youth to the festival is to continue safeguarding the achievements of the socialism and respect the sovereignty and peace of peoples so that a better world is possible.

The ninth delegation in the country is made up of 11 delegates and three guests who will carry the ideas of Fidel Castro Ruz high, informed Yannara Concepción Domínguez, the UJC’s first secretary in the territory.

The 28-year-old also highlighted the support of this population segment in the recuperative work in the province after Hurricane Irma.

For Yaiquel Puentes Malagón, president of the Federation of Students of the Middle School (FEEM) and delegate to the festival, participating in representation of the students is a pride.

While delegate Gustavo Barroso Sánchez, a first-year resident of the Polyclinic of the municipality of Colón, will take advantage of the space to demonstrate medical advances in Cuba and advocate that health reaches all corners of the planet to improve the quality of life of humans.

The political-cultural activity grouped students of different teachings and counted on the performance of the Drum Kings, who closed with a version of the song El Necio, by Silvio Rodríguez.

I am happy to be a Cuban young man

Elian Gonzalez Brotons, 23, is super happy to be a young Cuban. The Industrial engineer is invited to the XIX World Festival of the Youth and the Students.

Elián González works in the Base Business Unit of Victory of Girón, in the municipality of Cárdenas. The entity is in charge of making tanks and other plastic items.

“If they gave me the opportunity to express my opinion, I would carry the voice of the youth, transmit my experiences as a young Cuban, the means that the Revolution has given me to prepare myself and serve my country as a professional.”

The ideas and example of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz are present every day in the life of the young Cardenian.

                                                  Cuban delegation heading to Sochi

More than two hundred young people from the island will participate in this event with broad representation from all sectors, said Ronal Hidalgo Rivera, second secretary of the National Committee of the UJC.

From the 15th to the 21st of October, the city of Sochi, in the Russian Federation, will become the meeting point for more than 20 thousand young people from 150 countries.

At the event, delegates through the debate, cultural activities and sports competitions will face the challenges that youth and the world face today.

The youth meeting will be dedicated to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, Ernesto Che Guevara, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and second secretary of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, to the centenary of the Great Socialist Revolution in October, and to the sixtieth anniversary of the movement of the World Youth and Student Festivals.
