Support forest workers Varadero recovery after Hurricane Irma

The workers of the Matanzas Agroforestry Company will produce more than five thousand wooden umbrellas for the Varadero tourist pole as part of the recovery actions following the passage of Hurricane Irma through the national territory, said Jorge Diaz Mirabal, director of the entity.

“Currently at the Basic Business Units (UEB) San Pedro de Mayabón, San Miguel and Matanzas are made the umbrellas to replace those damaged by the hurricane,” said the manager.

Also the forestry workers will support the construction of ranchones to provide the usual comfort services in the paradise of sun and sand.

“We already have the guano and the round wood that this type of rustic construction needs and we will start the work in the next few days,” Diaz Mirabal added.

The workers of the Agroforestry Company Matanzas were decisive in the recovery of the hotel infrastructure and in the rapid sanitation of the spa after the passage of Hurricane Irma.

“A brigade of 110 men with more than 30 chainsaws worked uninterruptedly in pruning trees in about 42 hotels, the beach and the historic center. Today we carry out other tasks to have ready the tourist site for the winter season “, highlighted the manager.
