Workers from the sugar sector will dedicate the volunteer work day next Saturday, October 7th to carry out recovery work in the industry and in the field to minimize the effects of Hurricane Irma after passing through the north coast of Matanzas.
According to Florangel Fernández Abreu, secretary general of the Union of Sugar Workers in the province, technicians will carry out industrial work to boost the progress of repairs in the mills.
Also, the day includes the planting of sugar cane and the beautification and sanitation of the areas around the plants, as well as the administrative offices.
“Our sector is in a decisive stage to be able to start the 2017-2018 harvest in November, so the coming days will demand of our collective a greater effort,”added Fernández Abreu.
The National Secretariat of the CTC called on the groups of workers to develop a massive national day of voluntary work on October 7th in useful and necessary tasks, aimed at promoting the tasks that require a decisive effort and continue to provide the contribution to the recovery .
In addition, it will serve as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the fall in combat of the Heroic Guerrilla and his fellow guerrillas.
