Dialogues on culture and society propose puppeteers at Havana’s Theater Festival

The 17th.  Havana Theater Festival has been convened this time from October 20th to 29th, with the thematic theme of theater, society and resistance. Three similar words in their meaning, if the scene is thought of as a social cultural fact, whose sign is firmness in goals, obstinacy in artistic conquest, tenacity in representations, repeated over and over again, exhibiting lights and shadows of who we are, we went or we want to be.

For the fourth time, the Cuban Center of the Unima (International Union of the Puppetry), refounded in 2010, proposes a forum of opinion in the theoretical event of the prestigious festival of the capital, whose character is international. Talking puppeteers of resistance in today’s society, as the focus of the colloquium, will sit at the table nine Cuban and foreign stage directors who participate in the show of shows for children, youth and adults of the Havana event.

The Sala Teatro Abelardo Estorino, located in the gardens of the Ministry of Culture, will open its doors to this forum on Thursday, October 26th, from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Subsequently the project will be presented Zone in progress: new faces of the Cuban puppet theater, which will be carried out during the International Puppet Workshop of Matanzas, in April 2018, and which aims to provide a platform to help new artists attracted by the profession, to offer valuable or novel proposals.

The book of the Tablas-Alarcos publishing house will also be presented: Teatro Incompleto, by the playwright, poet, actor and Argentine puppeteer Roberto Espina, a friend of Cuba, recently deceased, with a strong written work for the theater of figures, Piece La República del caballo muerto y Osobuco soberbio a la parrilla, among others.
