On the 165th anniversary of the birth of our National Hero, there were many activities that took place in the city of Yumurina to celebrate the Ephemerides.
Within the program dedicated to the teacher, an evening was held at the new headquarters of the José Martí Cultural Society, and young members of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) and the University Student Federation (FEU) climbed the bread hill, the highest site of the city, where there was no lack of homage to the apostle.
The march of the torches took place on Saturday the 27th at nine o’clock at night. The parade started in the René Fraga park and ended in the plaza de la vigía, where the matanceros enjoyed the music of the patio.
On Sunday, January 28, the anniversary of Marti, the Matanzas children of all the primary and secondary schools of the city paraded with the teacher’s thoughts, to Libertad Park.
The students recreated passages of the Golden Age with drawings, sculptures and costumes, and placed flowers before the statue of the most universal of all Cubans, who chairs the aforementioned Plaza de la Atenas de Cuba.
While in the Pepe Camejo room, the group of Teatro de las Estaciones maintained during the weekend Los Zapaticos de Rosa, a multi-award winning play based on the homonymous short story by Martí.
