Patrimony specialists will debate about the historical memory in Museology and Society.

To thought again about cultural offers that from Museums are open to the public and speak about the new tendencies of the study of these institutions, from September 18th  to 21st  will be developed in Matanzas city a new edition of the Museology and Society National Workshop.

This event will be appropriate to the debate of 50 works, updated and outstanding works within the specialists of cultural patrimony of five provinces of Cuba: researchers  from Pinar del Rio, Havana, Villa Clara, Holguin and  the  hostess Matanzas ,showed their interest for sharing experiences having to do with history and theory of Museology, said Bielka Castillo González, who runs the  Patrimony Provincial Center.

Will be analyzed themes such as history and the study of collections or relevant collectionists and the maintenance and restoration of the Patrimony in Museums. Besides they will speak about the role of Museums in the Community like he school- museum and relationship with teaching programs, the study and promotion of local stories, the experience in the saving of pieces from  museums, the challenges of Museology  and Museography,the impact  of tourism in patrimonial areas and the conservation and restoration of the cultural patrimony.

The program of the Museology and Society Workshop will be complemented by the work in commissions, three lectures, one of them will be held by the Doctor in Art Science Alicia García Santana dedicated to the City of San Carlos and Severino of Matanzas that will be celebrating its 325 years of foundation next October 12 and visits to historical places.

Museology and Society is considered an important moment to make fulfill the policy of Patrimony. This event will be focused in the protection and diffusion of cultural patrimony and in the necessity that Universities keep a serious work with Museums and turn into alive pieces of art the samples that have been kept in warehouses for decades.

Olga Lidia González, Junco Palace Museum director commented to the Cuban News Agency said that the Museology and Society Workshop is the one and only event in Cuba where they can debate about the new tendencies and learn about the work of colleagues in other parts of the country.

The Workshop becomes the right place for the updating of  museologycal  topics in Cuba, interchanges within professionals and particularly the bound of these institutions with communities.

That´s why Museology and Society Workshop  is the adequate scenery to speak about the need of preserving the patrimonial memory, in times when the unknown  threats us with the stealing of centuries.
