Literary Crusade will conclude in Vigía Editions.

Tamara Caridad Mesa González 31 agosto, 2018

Among the purposes of summer cultural programs, each year in Cuba there are proposals in which recreation and learning complement each other.

This being the case, it can be said that one of the greatest successes of the summer season was the literary crusades by the municipalities of the province, organized by the Provincial Center of Book and Literature, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and the Literary Promotion Center José Jacinto Milanés, with the purpose of stimulating the habit of reading and promoting the work of contemporary Cuban authors.

During the summer months the literary routes were developed. Public lectures and presentations of titles in the municipalities of the province included the literary crusades.

During the month of July the pilgrimage was concentrated in the territories of the northern part of the province. The journey traveled through the municipalities of Limonar, Jovellanos, Perico, Colón and extended to Los Arabos and Cárdenas.

Around ten writers from the catalog of the multi-awarded publishing  Matanzas hoise, among them, Yanira Marimón, Leymen Pérez, Norge Céspedes, Lexander Pita, Hugo Hodelín and Lincoln Capote were inserted in this experience to which writers were added in each of the municipalities and towns where the presentations and colloquia took place.

At the beginning of August, the writers arrived in the southern territories, explained Xiomara González, programmer at the José Jacinto Milanés Literary Promotion Center.

«We went through Unión de Reyes, Pedro Betancourt, Jagüey Grande and Ciénaga de Zapata municipalities, where we carried out the crusade. We also passed through Calimete, where we paid homage to our National Hero, José Martí, in Caimito del Hanábana «.

Authors of Matanzas Editions catalog were inserted in the meetings, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the creation of the publishing house, based in Digdora Alonso House of the Handwritings.

«The peculiarity of this year is that we have dedicated the route through the province to the four decades of Matanzas editions and its homonymous magazine. That is why the payroll was composed, fundamentally, by the writers who belong to that catalog, whose works have been published many times by the publisher of Santa Teresa Street.

«In the second stage we were invited by Julio Blanco Escandell, from Cárdenas; Loreley Rebull, who brought a different touch to our day with her interesting and educational narrations, was also Derbys Domínguez; the editor and poet Alfredo Zaldívar as director of  Matanzas Editions, Daniel Cruz Bermúdez, director of Aldabón Editions, Israel Domínguez and Abel González Fagundo.

» The literary crusades helped to strengthen the bonds between writers and readers. Beyond just presenting through their texts, the authors attend as protagonists of the cultural process in which it is evident, above all, the inner world of those who gave life to the letters that motivated the exchanges in each settlement.

«It was fabulous, not only for the poetic work of our authors, which is well known by the public and the specialized critics. In the human aspect he was very fraternal, very human, very natural. Writers are excellent people who share and care about each other. The crusade is full of good energy. »

In each presentation the music entertained the cultural event, thanks to  Lien Rodríguez and Rey Pantoja duo and Reynaldo Montalvo, special guests during these tours that sought to bring the light of Matanzas letters to all corners of the province.

Today, August 31st, the literary crusades will be closed in the emblematic Vigia, in Matanzas city. The opportunity to dialogue with the writers of the municipality constitutes a new encounter with the good literature that is born in the city of poets.

The stage will be propitious to present the plaquettes made by the children that participated in the workshop that, as every year, offered the publishing house to teach to elaborate  art-books.
