The Philatelic Circle of Matanzas, located on Middle Street between Santa Teresa and City Hall, has a rich history and tradition endorsed by the results in the last five decades.
Founded on March 6, 1965 at the Ramón Guiteras Library, by the distinguished Cuban philatelist Ignacio Abreu Pérez, it currently has 41 members, of whom 37 are adults and four are young people.
Among the most prominent in the specialty is the exhibitor Raudel Busto Galup, winner of four Gold Grande medals at national events.
According to his current president Joaquín Mestre Jordi, the Philatelic Circle of Yumurino, associated with the Cuban Philatelic Federation, opens its doors on Thursdays and Saturdays, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and in addition to the sale of stamps and instruments indispensable for this activity as tweezers, magnifiers and catalogs, lectures are also given.

Mestre is one of the people from Matanzas to obtain the National Philatelic Award along with Ignacio Abreu Pérez and René Castellanos Álvarez, as well as being a Pan American jury of the Inter-American Federation of Philately, FIAF.
