The boxing team of Matanzas will have the last opportunity to measure up in the ring, before leaving for greater commitments, when the National Cup José Antonio Echeverría begins from November 22 to 25.
The city of Cárdenas will host the event that will feature the best exponents of the country and where those at home can prepare for the Playa Girón tournament, scheduled for the month of December in the province of Camagüey.
The Matanzas team, as headquarters, also has the commitment to show off in the ring considering that it failed to qualify for the final stage of the National Boxing Series.
With this debt on their backs the whole house intends to take advantage of the competition to win against the best in order to overcome the seventh place they won in the last edition of the Playa Girón Tournament.
According to the commissioner of boxing in the territory, Omar Dobles Hernández, the main letters of the team are Rander Luis Zaza, in 54 kg; Yoandi Chorot, in 69 kg and Leonardo Wili, in 91kg, although he does not deny the possibility that stellar Andy Cruz and Osley Iglesias can join.
Doubles also noted that contrary to what happened in other events, the province will have representatives in all divisions, as an important number of athletes joined the team, which stand out for their physical qualities.
On the other hand, the commissioner said that the capital of Jumurina does not have the appropriate facilities to promote the exchange with other athletes of the fists of the country and thus slows the possibility of the emergence of competitive tournaments.
In general, the José Antonio Echeverría National Cup, which gets more prestige every year due to its technical and organizational quality, promises in this edition to offer the best of boxing in the territory.
