The final session of the National Conference of the Tourism Union was celebrated.

With the presence of the members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, Mercedes López Acea and Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Cuba Workers’ Confederation, the final session of the Second Conference of the National Union of Hotel Workers and Tourism began (SNTHT), which since last Thursday gathered in Havana more than 235 delegates and guests from the country.
Víctor Manuel Lemagne Sánchez, general secretary of the SNTHT, read the report of the management of the work in the last five years, which expresses the certainty of having accompanied the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in the contribution of higher income to the country.
At this moment, he said, preceded by the VII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba and the organic process of the XXI Congress of the CTC, close to turning 80 years of creation.
According to the report, a relevant balance of the stage, he assures, was to close 2017 at 57 cents of expenditure per CUC of income, in response to the accusations that Raúl Castro made to MINTUR in 2004, when he indicated achieving 62 cents averaged over the group of Seagull, an index that was at 82 cents.
He highlighted the financial relief of the innovators, some of whom are waiting for the generalization of their inventiveness, vital in the successes of a tourism that requires productive linkage with other sectors, advantageous to lower costs, manufacture more at home, bring less from outside, generate jobs, direct balance of the linkage between industries.
According to his assessment, the union should insist more on the effectiveness of the investments, especially for the opportunity of the maintenance, not always made when they touch, and for the recovery of rooms out of order.
The report calls attention to the need to improve the quality of services, to avoid loss of money due to claims and to fight crime, corruption and illegalities, which undermine the economy and the morals of groups, a matter that is required energetic combat, of daily confrontation and of eliminating its causes and conditions.
It evaluated the economic results of a sector where it operates with economic losses in 56 entities, 16 of them not planned to account for the negative balance, a manifestation that affects the results of the country and the workers.
He said that the category of employment and salary is the main concern of workers, because there is no correspondence between monetary income and workers’ wages.
He described unionization as the main political task, a mission where a total of 83 thousand members have been affiliated in the three sources. It is appreciated, he said, a slight decrease. Lemagne Sánchez concluded the reading of the report calling for efficient, professional and very Cuban tourism.
