With a tribute to our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, two years after his physical departure, the Provincial Assembly of Annual Balance of the José Martí Cultural Society was developed at the University of Medical Sciences in Matanzas city, where there was a profound debate work with clubs, classrooms and Martian chairs and their link with teachers, children and youth in order to strengthen the knowledge of the life and work of Ápostol.
In his speech, the vice president of the organization in Cuba, René González Sehwerert, said that it is a priority to acquire the Martian Notebooks with the purpose of getting to know everything related to the man of the Golden Age. He is also a Hero of the Republic of Cuba referred to the need to expand socio-cultural projects in which the community is involved and to call the members to hold meetings, workshops and other pleasant spaces.
In the debates led by the acting president of the Cultural Society in Matanzas, Odalys Cherry Guedes, the associates emphasized the participation of students in the Contests Leer a Martí and Donde Crece la Palma. With a critical analysis, the members of the organization reflected on the internal functioning, the execution of the budget and the restoration of the Social House that they share with the Union of Historians of Matanzas city.
On the other hand, the Fragua de Espíritu Prize was awarded to personalities and institutions that disseminate the work of Martí, while the community work carried out by the Martiano Club Juan Almeida Bosque was acknowledged and the projections of the organization for the next year were announced.
