Vice President of Cuba Councils of State and Ministers visits Ciénaga de Zapata.

In order to know the actions carried out by Ciénaga de Zapata territory after the agreements drawn up during 2018, visited the Ciénaga de Zapata Inés María Chapman, vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, and Samuel Rodiles Planas, president of the Institute of Physical Planning. In a work meeting issues of territorial and national interest were discussed, emphasizing several illegalities that have persisted since last year and which are pending to be resolved in 2019.

In this regard, Rodiles Planas insisted on the need to eliminate these illegalities and set goals to commit the responsible sources to eradicate the problems and help the people in the same way. After the meeting, those present went to Los Hondones Channel to see the protection dam on Soplillar’s left shoulder.

For this project, 5.4 million pesos were allocated to invest in 14 km of the canal. In four kilometers of them worked intensely during 2018; for this year the work is expected in two km to complete the protection of the left shoulder, without abandoning the actions in the Hanábana and Bagá channels and other accesses that will help the operation of a buffer dam.

Before continuing the tour the vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers said that: “according to plan, the program was to conclude on December 31, 2018, which was fulfilled. This has a positive impact to mitigate the floods that affected the population. There are still other works that must be carried out in the coming years in order to face the effects of climate change, as part of the Life Task.

“We congratulate the builders, engineers, colleagues of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, the organizations that have participated: Physical Planning, Agriculture … for the completion of this work. The important thing now is to sustain it and continue with the second and third stages. ”

Upon return they visited the community of Bermejas where they could physically observe the desalination plant installed in this place to improve water quality, they also valued the one they located in El Helechal and it was announced that for the first quarter of the current year install three of larger size, in the Playa Girón hotel, in the Popular Council of Girón and in Ramona Islet.
