Vigía Editions, an institution dedicated to the creation of books manufactured in the city of Matanzas, invites children from Matanzas to participate in the Contest “The city that I love”, as a creative initiative in light of the proximity of the XXVIII Book Fair in the called Athens of Cuba.
Agustina Ponce Valdés, director of the literary label, explained that infants and adolescents can present a drawing, poetry, epistle or story, inspired by the city of rivers and bridges, which was 325 years old last October 12th .
The works will be delivered to the headquarters of Vigía Editions, in the number one venue on Magdalena Street, in the city of Matanzas, and the deadline for admission is February 28. The works will be exhibited from March 6 at 2:00 in the afternoon, until March 10, on which day the contest will be awarded at the publisher’s headquarters at 10:00 in the morning, during the Peña Barquitos del San Juan, added Agustina.
The exhibition of the works will coincide with the day of literary fair in the city of Matanzas, an event that will be held in renovated spaces such as Vigía Square and the river walkway of Narváez Street.
Always on the occasion of the Book Fair the publishing house inaugurates exhibitions of the artists that are linked to it, and this time we want to dedicate that space to the children, because they are the future of Vigía, who will be celebrating his 34th anniversary in the month of coming April, explained Ponce Valdés.
