For the first time, the city of Matanzas will serve as an extension of the XIII edition of the Havana Biennial, which will take place between April 12th and May 12th.
The most important event of the visual arts in Cuba will have the participation of 64 artists, of them 25 people from Matanzas and the rest of 16 countries such as Spain, Norway, Holland and the United States.
On this occasion the guests of honor are Agustín Drake, Lorenzo Padilla, José Ramón Chávez and David Hammons. In addition, creators such as Roberto Braulio, Lázaro Marrero, Julio César García, Yunior Solomon, Cosmo Whyte, Jana Harper, among others, will present their artistic conceptions.
The general director of the event, María Magdalena Campos-Pons, assured that in the platform of Project Intermittent Rivers, Matanzas and international creators will socialize their works and contribute with the presentation party of the visual culture of the city.
“In the biennial, for and by the people, art, democracy and justice will be combined. Likewise, the inauguration of the event will mark a before and after in the city.
” The pre-program presented during the press conference includes theoretical events by artists such as Selene Wendt, Tracy Snelliing and Marilá Dardot, as well as exhibitions and performances.The XIII edition of the Havana Biennial will provide greater visibility to the city of San Carlos and San Severino de Matanzas, reaffirming it as a destination of Cuba.
