The vice president of the Councils of State and of Ministers Roberto Morales Ojeda verified this Wednesday in Matanzas the development of the maintenance, repair and investment program of the school facilities.
“Lacking a follow-up policy is the cause of the deterioration that the infrastructure of the education sector presents today. From now on, the strategy must be to carry out the works with quality and to constantly maintain the buildings already recovered, “the Cuban leader explained.
At the meeting, which provides continuity to the agreements agreed with the president of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel in his visit to the territory, he learned that more than 140 schools have a constructive status cataloged as bad or regular, so that this province is the second in the country with the largest number of deteriorated teaching centers.
The Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, referred to the importance of executing the simplest tasks at the moment with the help of parents and teachers to prevent problems from escalating.
On the other hand, the director of Education in Matanzas, Raúl Hernández Galarraga, reported that more than three thousand places of teaching staff are covered with alternatives such as the reincorporation of retirees, part-time hiring and the contribution of university students, decisive for achieve the completion.
They also addressed issues such as the retention of students in pedagogical training courses and teacher care, an initiative that emerged in Matanzas, but has no stability in their actions.Morales Ojeda also stressed the need for better resource management, as other regions show that it is possible, even with the shortcomings that are known, to improve educational institutions.
At the University of Matanzas, he was also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, together with the Minister of Higher Education José Ramón Saborido and the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya. He criticized the situation of one of the buildings in the student residence. Before the complex panorama said to feel responsible and demanded a quick response from the competent authorities.
In the house of high studies toured the Botanical Garden and exhorted to transform it to win the interest of national and foreign visitors. He also learned about the benefits of the Scientific-Technological Park, a project that has digital infrastructure to support the development of companies.
Afterwards, he visited the International Clinic in Varadero, the pioneers camp Maravillas de la Infancia and the children’s circle Retoños Martianos.
In the Experimental Station of pastures and forages Indio Hatuey, in the municipality of Perico, Morales Ojeda concluded his journey through the Matanzas´s lands but not before promising a quick return to check the progress on the issues mentioned.
During the meeting he was accompanied by the highest authorities of the Party and the Government in the territory.
