Unión de Reyes, a town of Cuban playwright and writer Abelardo Estorino, hosted its emblematic Theater Day from the 21st to the 24th of this month, sponsored by Teatro D’Sur, the only municipality group that has been founded for more than 39 years. it remains active.

This nineteenth edition was dedicated to Ramón Silviero, director of El Mejunje, who enjoyed the photographic exhibition that includes the visits of the theater player to the town of Union.

In the Pablo Quevedo House of Culture was unveiled the sample with more than a dozen snapshots, occasion for the delivery of various awards, including La Tórtola, highest distinction awarded by the Provincial Department of Culture in Matanzas.

In the house of the actor and director of Teatro D’Sur, Pedro Vera, there was an intense gathering dedicated to the 70th birthday of Ramón Silveiro, the 30th anniversary of the “Clytemnestra o el crimen” and the fourth of the century of the Casa de la Scenic Memory.

Personalities from the current Cuban theater were present, such as Omar Valiño, director of Tablas Alarcos, who was in charge of presenting several titles of this publishing house and Yerandys Fleitas, a young Cuban playwright who presented the volume “Pueblo Blanco”.

The stage artists paid tribute to the National Prize for Literature and Theater, Abelardo Estorino in the cemetery of his native Union  de Reyes.

In the Jornada, which takes place annually in this town, main settlement  of great Cuban artists and intellectuals participated the groups Teatro Papalote, El Mirón Cubano, Icarón theater, company Danza Espiral, Circo Spectro and other provinces such as El Mejunje, from Villa Clara and Compañía del Cuartel, of Havana.

At the closing gala Theater D’Sur thrilled the audience with the staging of “Last song for Charlot”, written by Ulises Rodrigues Febles.
