The tenth day of Street Theater in Matanzas is not only an event to enjoy the performing arts, it also generates spaces and discussions where the history and the actuality of this artistic expression are discussed and many other topics that result from the interest of the experts in theater of Matanzas, Cuba and the world.
Mercedes Fernández Pardo, technical-artistic assistant of the event, told Radio 26 that “with these talks, the knowledge and theory that exists about the theater is used in enormous quantities, it is put to discussion and from there emanate new ideas and projects that they start from scientific foundations devised from the artistic practice and these exercises then enrich the quality of the Street Theater and its transcendence as a cultural event “.
Among the theoretical activities that have taken place in the House of Scenic Memory as part of the theatrical work include talks on the art of zanqueros, screening and debates of films, shorts and documentaries related to these topics, as well as panels dedicated to the 35 years of El Mirón Cubano.
The confluence of many disciplines of the event is also reflected in the workshops on dance and dance techniques for actors and on the manifestation of the work based on statues in Cuba, which arrives to its 20 years since it started on the island. There are many topics and debates that are generated in this tenth edition of the street theater day in Matanzas.
