Today, 47th anniversary of Higher Education in Matanzas.

Higher Education in Matanzas celebrates its 47th anniversary, the University of Matanzas (UM) is on its way to 50 years for the city of knowledge, integrated and contributing to the solution of the problems of the territory and the country, said in the social network Twitter the doctor Leyda Finalé, rector of the house of high studies.

The professor affirmed that the existence of Higher Education in the province is an expression of the will of the Revolution to develop the country and give culture to its people, and congratulated those who contribute to its development.

This Thursday, at the Camilo Cienfuegos headquarters, where the Botanical Garden of Matanzas is located, the planting of thirteen real palms became a tribute to the anniversary of the yumurina academy and the XIII Biennial of Havana, with sub-headquarters in the city of rivers and bridges.

Raydel Valladares Rodríguez, head of the events department, confirmed that the inclusion of the planting of trees in the program of the Biennial ratifies the UM as an institution in addition, promoter of Cuban culture.

Also this Thursday, the History Room located in Camilo Cienfuegos headquarters hosted a sample of scientific and academic products to illustrate the achievements and the evolution of the UM during its 47 years.

On May 9th , 1972, the current University of Matanzas has its origins, which develops its educational activity, mainly in the Camilo Cienfuegos and Juan Marinello headquarters; It also has four Municipal University Centers (CUM), nine municipal branches (FUM), and the Experimental Station of Pastures and Forages Indio Hatuey.

With the motto Matanzas: destination, not point of passage, the Biennial in the city of rivers and bridges brings together creators from more than a dozen countries, and seeks to achieve the interaction of the arts with society and contribute to local development from the culture.
