The Brene Award for the work of life was given to Ulises Rodríguez Febles, director of the House of Scenic Memory in Matanzas.
The award ceremony was accompanied by a cultural tribute to the writer and dramatist from Matanzas. With the performances of El Mirón Cubano, Liliam Padrón and Atenas Brass Ensemble, friends and co-workers demonstrated the gratitude and satisfaction of working with Ulises.
For her part, María Isabel Tamayo, wife of Ulises and promoter of the institution, expressed the pleasure of working so that her partner in life can sustain their dreams.
For Ulises the delivery of this prize doubled the joy, because on that date the House of the Scenic Memory was celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The occasion was propitious for the delivery of the Santa Camila Scholarship from Old Havana to Juan Edilberto Sosa, director of the theater group La Caja Negra, of Santiago de Cuba for his work Psicosis.
The make-up artist Lea Milagros Hernández and the theater actor Icarón, Gilberto Subiaurt were among the other nominees for the Brene Prize, recognition created in 2009 by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in Matanzas, to honor the playwright José Ramón Brene.
