Executives of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment visit the province of Matanzas to exchange and evaluate the development of actions linked to the State Life Task Plan.
During the initial exchange, held on Thursday morning with specialists from the territory, the Doctor Angel Sciences Alfonso Martínez said that in Matanzas, the most vulnerable country to the impacts of climate change, province working in originated priorities of a program national as the integral recovery of the urbanized beach of Varadero and the dumping of sand in key sectors and keys of the Hicacos peninsula.
To this the restoration of creeks on the southern shore of the bay and beaches of Boca Camarioca and unite Camacho, in addition to developing a special plan to address the vulnerabilities of the city Matanzas and Cardenas.
In terms of food production, we work on the application of integral technologies for the protection of rice in the municipality of Calimete and the engineering measures for the hydrological management of the waters of the Colón plain.
In the provincial order, there is also the implementation of actions related to the sanitation infrastructure, supply and drainage in the city of Cárdenas, the reduction of water consumption in the Varadero tourist pole and encourage their reuse, as well as solving the problems of floods and the improvement of water quality in Ciénaga de Zapata.
A whole action that, according to the Doctor of Sciences Ángel Alfonso, generates challenges such as the intention to extend the implementation of the Life Task to the rest of the municipalities of the province, to improve the analysis of the execution of the budget and to evaluate the impact of the activities that they run.
Given this presentation of the aspirations and processes that are carried out in Matanzas within the State Life Task Plan, the Doctor of Sciences Odalys Goicochea Cardoso, national director of Science and Environment, said that when that impact is evaluated, take into account the economic and social development plan of the province.
