The intention to conserve, maintain and fully recover the sandy beaches, prioritize those of tourist interest and reduce the structural vulnerability of the built heritage, generates programs that in Matanzas have Varadero as one of the main development scenarios.
The demolition of facilities or areas of these, such as the ranchón of the beach bar of the Meliá Marina and Meliá Peninsula hotels, are some of the measures that are inserted within the State Life Task Plan.
They are joined by the construction of footbridges in Paradisus Varadero, Princesa del Mar, Memories and Laguna Azul, among other hotels located in the Hicacos Peninsula.
Likewise, work is being done on the integral dumping of sand in the main sun and beach pole of Cuba, the rearrangement and conformation of the beach profile, dunes and channels in areas of intense erosion or those associated or not with the demolition of facilities.
To recover the natural vegetation of these marine ecosystems, we work on the control of invasive alien species with silvi-cultural and phytosanitary treatment.
