With a strong presence in Matanzas, workers in the oil sector celebrated their day this first of July, committed to achieving energy self-sufficiency.

The mission of providing specialized services associated with fossil fuel and its derivatives, with certified quality standards, was highlighted in the central act that was held at the Territorial Division of Fuel Commercialization of this province.

Responsible for distributing by sea, land and pipelines the different types of hydrocarbons that reach the customers of Matanzas and the rest of the nation, the Fuel Distributor assumes 80% of the fuel consumed by the country, including aviation gasoline. all airports.

For this performance, operations on the deepwater docks stand out, in which ships dock from 2,000 to 150,000 tons.

An action that is achieved with the team of technologists and specialists who guarantee the continuity and quality of the productive process such as Felipe Domínguez Cabrera, who works in the Instrumentation, Automation and Communications department.

“I have been here for more than 34 years, I started after graduating and I have stayed because despite the highs and lows I have always found the opportunity of realization in my area of studies. As a professional I have realized all my dreams.

“When there is low treatment to raise them and in the high I try that the ego does not reach so much and thus I maintain the necessary stability”.

We may say that from the maintenance area Lázaro Rodríguez Bolaños, a renowned innovator comments.

“Here the motivation is constant, because breakdowns occur and we have to solve them with innovation, because because of the blockade imposed by the United States we cannot always count on the spare part, a way to maintain daily production.”

José Antelo Meana, is another of the Matanzas oil tankers clinging to his work in the Marketer of Fuels of Matanzas.

“I look after the maintenance from the point of view of the inspections and the technical controls, this shows how complex is the activity of the oil worker and the commitment that entails to achieve the objective”.

Therefore, when we asked what the strategies they use to attract young people to the industry are, Bolaños said:

“Within the strategies are to follow them in their performance as students of the polytechnic or the university, to share work days with them and above all to help them in the elaboration of their thesis of degree”.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines has a highly qualified petroleum guild in Matanzas that ensures compliance with production rates and environmental safety in the development of oil activities in entities such as the Oil Drilling and Extraction Company of the Center, of Maintenance and Construction, the Merchant of Fuels, Services, Transcupet, Cubalub and the polytechnics where technicians of the sector are trained.
