Support for the measures and the economic strategy developed by the country’s top management; the assurance to the elaboration of the plans and the budget of 2020; the days of reflection in the collectives to reject the blockade and the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and summer activities, among others, are the priorities of the Cuban Trade Workers Union (CTC) in Matanzas during the months of July and August.
As was announced at the press conference offered by the provincial secretariat of the organization, more than three thousand members’ assemblies have been held in the territory and have just begun the meetings of representatives in order that workers by right and they must contribute and contribute with the real elaboration of the plan of their center.
Referring to the progress of this political process, Osmar Ramírez, secretary general of the CTC in the province, stressed the importance of ensuring that meetings are not mere and superficial, but spaces to analyze the potentialities and indicators of the entity that allow it to meet with the strategic objectives of the national economy.
“Workers have to have greater participation in the preparation of economic plans and be more committed to the commercial movement, which means more products, higher quality, savings, efficiency, discipline and union functioning” -he emphasized.
Ramírez also pointed out that in order to increase exports Matanzas has more than twenty consolidated products as lines destined for foreign markets. Among them he cited as leaders charcoal, cane sugar, as well as citrus fruits and their derivatives: nectars, juices and essential oils.
In the same way, he informed of the follow-up given to vital issues such as the functioning of the Union at the base; the policy of cadres; unionization in the non-state sector, where the decrease in membership still prevails; attention to man and in this sense announced the implementation of local initiatives, such as enhancing the support of administrations and groups to people with subsidies for the repair of their homes and pregnant workers.
The head of the CTC in Matanzas praised the decision of the country’s leadership to substantially increase the salaries of the budgeted sector, one of the main demands of Cuban workers that was addressed in the 21st Congress.
“Later on, the business sector will also benefit, for all of this we have to respond with an increase in efficiency, in labor discipline, in order to be able to contribute more and more to the Cuban economy”, he added.
He also valued as opportune and fruitful the days of reflection carried out in numerous groups, where the workers have condemned the hostile policy of the United States government against Cuba and in the face of aggressive measures have been pronounced for greater unity, more commitment to economic activity and not give up in the effort to build a better society and a nation for all.
In their exchange with representatives of the press, the other members of the provincial secretariat of the yumurina Central offered details about the activities of the summer, the preparation of the coming process of renewal or ratification of the members that make up the Labor Justice Organs, the celebration of the Second Provincial Conference of the Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR), scheduled for July 23rd and some details of the socialist emulation in the trade union movement.
