Dozens of people in Unión de Reyes gathered on Friday July 12th before the monument that perpetuates the memory of the independence patriot Juan Gualberto Gómez, in the town that saw him born 165 years ago.

Children, young people and the people of the town went to the memory of who was one of the initiators, on February 24th, 1895, of the independence struggle of the island, when they got up at the La Ignacia farm, in Ibarra, on the outskirts from the city of Matanzas.

In the communiqué of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution in the territory, the emblematic figure of the so-called “Martí’s black brother” was highlighted, as well as his spirit of struggle, love of the country, independence and anti-imperialism.

For this night, a gala will be held in the town of Juan Gualberto Gómez, as the end of the day of culture in the town.
