Omar Valiño, director of the magazine Tablas and his label Alarcos Editions, presented the book Circus Art in Cuba at the House of the Scenic Memory of Matanzas.
Miguel Menéndez Mariño, author of the book, devoted much of his life to documenting the history of the circus in Cuba, from his thesis at the Higher Institute of Art in 1982, until his death in 2011.
“When Miguel brought me the proposal of the book I loved it, even before reading it. It was the opportunity to have bibliography about the circus in Cuba, because in the 20 years of the Alarcos publishing house, specialized in performing arts, this book is the only documentation and the most complete one, “said Omar Valiño.
According to Valiño, the first edition of the book was published in Catalonia, Spain, and this second publication has a very broad spectrum: for younger artists, for all humanities and for those interested in knowing about the circus and not see it under one tent.
In addition, in the activity, young circus artists in Matanzas received recognition for their performances in several provinces of the country with Circuba.
