Today we celebrate the deed of Moncada and it is a celebration because it marked a milestone in the history of Cuba after half a century of oppression of the governments of the day, against the wishes of the Apostle.
In 1953 the figure of Martí and his ideology inspired the action of the Cuban revolutionaries, when on July 26th the assault on the Moncada and Bayamo Garrisons.
The leader of the deed, Fidel Castro Ruz, carried in his heart the ethics of the Master, his vision of imperialism and the concept of dignity, for which he proclaimed himself an intellectual author.
Martian thought was integrated as a spiritual heritage of the young Cubans of the Fidel generation, to open a channel for future revolutionary transformations of Cuban society.
We celebrate the historical continuity of the only revolution that has existed in our country, the one begun on October 10th, 1868, with the determination of independence or death and the freedom of its slaves by Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, continued on February 24th, 1895 and restarted by Fidel with the heroic feat of Moncada in 1953. When this union stands out, the date of July 26th and Moncada stand as a new leap in the struggle for the independence of Cuba.
