On the morning of this Saturday, August 10th, the inaugural flight of the Russian airline Royal Flight landed in  Matanzas international airport Juan Gualberto, in Varadero, an operation that connected the city of Moscow with this spa, the main Cuban seaside resort of sun and beach .

After completing an itinerary that he will repeat with a ten-year frequency, representatives of the Cubatur receptive welcomed the 492 passengers of the Boeing 777.

With this air opening, the tour operator of Russian origin Coral Travel will start operations on these properties and the presence of the Russian market in the resort of Varadero is further strengthened, the largest destination for receiving travelers from the sister nation.

Cuba’s strategy towards Russia aims at the loyalty and opening of new passenger niches, especially with a market such as the Russian market, marked by an over-compliance thanks to which the emission deficit of other countries has been largely covered.

At the end of May, 69 thousand 166 Russian tourists had reached the Greater Antilles, equivalent to 115, 54 percent compared to the same period of 2018, the year in which this market grew 30 percent, as a consequence of the arrival of 137 thousand 440 travelers.

Cuba will have Russia as a guest of honor in the 40th edition of its International Tourism Fair (FitCuba), the largest event in the sector on the Island, which will be held in May 2020, precisely, in the famous resort of Varadero.

The Royal Flight Airlines, formerly Abakan-Avia, is a charter airline based in Abakan, Russia. It operates charter services between Russian cities and holiday destinations in Sri Lanka, Egypt, Thailand, Turkey, Tunisia, India, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Macao, Taiwan, Vietnam, China and recently incorporated the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
