Beekeepers next to implant record of honey production; works of social interest reopened.

The Base Business Unit (UEB) Apiarian Matanzas, leader in obtaining honey in the country, is about to implement a new record of 1,800 tons (t) per year. This entity, which lost half of its hives due to the subtropical storm Alberto in 2018, produced so far this year about 1,300 t of the sweet substance, which represents the broad overcoming of an 842 t plan.

According to the director of the UEB, Lorenzo Jesús Falcón Sotolongo, the group excels in the production of propolis and wax, also in the breeding of queen bees, indicators in which it also exhibits the honorable fulfillment of the planned.

“This year the climate has favored us and that, without discussion, is one of the main factors that enabled these results, as well as the capacity of our beekeepers -118 primary producers and more than 600 beneficiaries in the agricultural sector- the true protagonists ”, Commented Falcón Sotolongo.

The company also intends to settle a debt with the Matanzas population by opening the Honey House, a project that is managed.

This was confirmed by the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas, Liván Izquierdo Alonso, during a tour of the Matanzas territory that included the visit to revived social interest works, including the stomatology clinic of the municipality of Limonar.

In the property, belonging to the Nelson Fernández polyclinic, an investment of 25 thousand pesos was executed for construction repair.Improvements such as roof waterproofing, changing the carpentry and part of the furniture, the sterilization area was enlarged and lighting was reinstalled in that health center.
