The president of the National Association of Small Farmers in this municipality: Michel Sosa Martínez, offered his assessments on food production in the territory.
According to the leader “in the cooperative and peasant sector, the task is going satisfactorily, only that the desired figures are not reached in food, vegetables and pork, unlike beef, the delivery of milk to the industry and for consumption to the population, honey, grains and other items that achieve the planned levels. He adds that the vegetables are breached since the heavy rains in the tomato harvest period affected large tons of the product. ”
Asked about the strategy to follow in the future, he added that “the Boards of Directors of the production units, together with the grassroots organizations, support those farmers who have the potential to sow products such as sweet potatoes, cassava and others, a measure that will supply the current deficit.”
The purpose of the sector is to meet all the lines before December 31st to meet the needs of the people and to greet the anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, said Sosa Martínez.
