The town of the province of Matanzas remembers this September 11 the tenth anniversary of the death of one of the most important men of the revolutionary process: the Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque. A tribute of remembrance, affection and respect is paid to this brave man who in the battle called not to surrender to his subordinates.
The tribute is spontaneous, sincere and massive and lives up to the legacy of the worker who became a combatant and guerrilla leader. The Association of Combatants of the municipality of Matanzas will hold a political-cultural evening in the White Room with the participation of children and young people, who will perform songs by Juan Almeida and sing the stanzas of La Lupe.
Luis León Barrizonte, fighter of the reserve of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, states that Juan Almeida’s experiences in the Third Eastern Front Mario Muñoz and his constant concern with the follow-up of the troop’s personal problems are still alive in his mind. Remember that Almeida handed him the Flag of the Fight Against Bandits.
This commemorative day will be extended to work and study centers with special morning and historical sites dedicated to his memory.
