A highlight of the XI Varadero Gourmet International Festival, concluded the day before yesterday, was the reopening of the Continental cabaret, which will once again liven up the nights at the famous Playa Azul, after several years closed.
The review of the Travel Trade Caribbean (TTC) website refers to the reopening of the site with the Varadero show: a party for the world, a proposal that every night invites you to dance and sing along with authentic and traditional Cuban rhythms, under the artistic direction of the Andrés Gutiérrez teacher.
Between the bolero and the rumba this musical magazine makes a beautiful cultural and musical trajectory that again evokes that Varadero is more than sun and beach.
Rhythms such as danzon, danzonete, mambo and rumba join Afro-Cuban traditions throughout the show, to reserve a closing to the rhythm of son, rumba, timba, songo and conga.
Located next to the International Hotel and respectful in its architecture of elements of the original cabaret, it has lights, audio and high-tech scenery, essential to guarantee the quality of the shows.
The Continental design includes three bars, one classic, a cigarbar and Las Estrellas, where you can enjoy new trends in the international cocktail bar. Wide stage, columns, mirrors, marbles, glassware, carpets and capacity for 400 people are typical of a place where a concept of show promoting the roots of Cuban culture has been defended. This new cabaret also has an element that differentiates it from its predecessor. The former was part of the hotel and this was not. This explains why its management is now in charge of the Palmares Extrahotelero Group.
Inaugurated on December 24th, 1950, it has been the scene of prestigious national and foreign artists such as Omara Portuondo, Nat King Cole, Massiel, Chucho Valdés, Rosa Fornés, Juan Formell, Snowball, Consuelito Vidal and Compay Segundo, just to name a few .
